What's everyone's opinion on Gillespie getting canned? I understand the pressure at UK but I wonder if his record warranted being fired this year. I think it may have more to do with his reluctance to embrace the media and fans. Anyone got anything?

I believe Coach Gillespie was made aware of UK's expectations coming in but do I believe its a fair expectation, no I do not believe so. There are so many programs today in Division I NCAA baskbetball that are so competitive. I believe any of the programs in the elite eight of this years tournament were capable of reaching the final four. Unfortunate for Gillespie this year his Wildcats did not even make it to the NCAA Tournament which I know angered alot of alumni of Kentucky. Coach Gillespie is a great coach and I believe he did a hell of a job at Texas A&M. I only hope he finds another position soon and with a program that will give him the support and time needed to build a program.

Kentucky's firing of Gillespie is pretty cut and dry. The bottom line is at that level, you must produce!! 14 loses is way too much for their program. I think coming in, expectations are high as they usually are at Kentucky. He had great years at Texas A&M, but it's NOT Kentucky. Bottom line is he did not produce and win. They say his attitude rubbed boosters, and members of the athletic department the wrong way, but let's be honest, if he was winning, he would still be there!!

I think he will definitely land on his feet, but for now, he needs to rebound and move on.
