Hello Everyone,
My name is Jerry Bernal and I am a coach through Palo Alto College in San Antonio, TX and I have a contact through MVP Uniforms that can offer your teams a heck of a deal on uniforms whether it be Jordans, Nike, Addias, and so forth…
We are always looking for players at Palo Alto College... The school is not a sanctioned JUCO but we do get the players exposure to NCAA schools plus I do have a connection to a few NCAA Division 2 schools. If we keep him under 12 hours in a semeste…
Just completed my second season as an Assistant Coach at Palo Alto College under head coach John Libby and finished this season 17-10 and have a cumulative record of 42-14 with an average margin of victory of approximately 12 points a game. Getting ready to graduate in May 2009 with a Batchelors of Science in Kinesiology from Texas A&M San Antonio. I have a certificate of accomplishment from Sports Management World Wide for General Management and Scouting in 2007.

Happy to add you as a coaching "friend". What are you doing these days? I'm originally from Texas but have been practicing law in California. Now thinking about transitioning back into coaching.
Nice observation Jerry! Last summer, AAU, he improved his on ball defense immensely. With his very young high school squad, his coach absolutely didn't want him in foul trouble and so there wasn't a lot of focus on his defensive growth. Being 17 yrs old, I feel it's important to find a college with a head [or asst!] coach that can teach: shooting off the dribble, and on ball defense.
The one factor that his future coach will love,,,, is that the more important the game ,, and situation,,, the better he plays. Crunch time? He thrives.
Thanks for passing it on,,,and if you give me your address, I can send a couple of half games, or full games to you.

Hi Coach,
Thanks for adding me to your friends list?
Brand new to this site. What made you add me? Just curious since I don't really know how things work here.
Coincidentally, I put a player who I'm very close to, on a SW AIRLINE jet an hour ago to fly to San Antonio. An assistant coach at Trinity University is picking him up and he will visit the university. Coach Cunningham has been recruiting him since last summer when the 6'5" combo guard led his Team Oklahoma AAU squad into the FINAL FOUR of the Kingswood Classic in Houston. Used as a #2 guard for Team Oklahoma, he shot 15 of 23 from 3 pt range in the Adidas 64 National Tourney in Las Vegas in July 2008. Amazingly, he has received ZERO DIVISION I scholarship offers at this point. Two different basketball coaches [not D-I's] told me its a case of reverse discrimination. lol.
The kid can flat out play, is unselfish , sometimes to a fault, has great vision and can even play point guard. Great upside.
Jerry, do you have any contacts at D-1's where we could send some video to have him looked at?
Personally, I am exploring moving to New Jersey in the next year, and may switch my career path to something more basketball related. I've coached teams and individuals [boys and girls aged 7-18] part time for over 20 years. And also been a sportswriter for the Tulsa World newspaper.
Hi Jerry,
To answer your question;
At the school, I assit with the jv/varsity. For my club team, I will have an 11th grade squad that has been with me for many years now.
Being realistic, I would say two, maybe three guys can play at the lower college levels. I would have to get them in front of you somehow. Since this is my first run with a aau varsity team on the club circuit, I could use all the help you can offer on how to get my players a shot at being noticed and comply with ncaa rules etc..etc. Shoot me an email at disch@sbcglobal.net with any info / advice you can share.....coach d.
YOUR POST:
What age level are you coaching currently? I am an Assistant Coach for Palo Alto College and I am always looking for talent that falls through the cracks and we try to move them on to Universities or sanctioned Junior College Programs.... We currently have one kid out of Austin Bowie High School. Let me know... I appreciate it
