I think you have to consider not just skill and athleticism but also leadership. On that basis, Bird is the best and no one is in his class. Bird turned the Celtics into a winner the momemnt he arrived in Boston and the Lakers stayed winners the ent…

Maybe I'm biased because I'm from WV, but Jerry West has to get mentioned in this topic. Larry Bird is probably one and the NBA Logo, Jerry West is two. West and Bird are both top 10 players of all time. Pistol Pete is probably the greatest college…

Let's quit looking at RACE as it pertains to Basketball. The Ball is the same color no matter where you go. If a player can play such as PISTOL PETE, it doesn't matter what color HE or SHE is. The one thing I love about this game is that is sees no…

Watch the movie "The Pistol" .. Inspired me to be the player I was and the coach I will become. No doubt he was the greatest college player of all time and sure, I guess the greatest "white" player of all time if you want to call it that..

Short Bio
Basketball is in my blood. I'm addicted to it. I eat sleep and breath this game. All I want to do with my life is be a successful NBA or oversea's Coach or leader for sports of some type. I am so glad I found this site. Another passion of mine is youth counseling. I believe that the better the relationship with your players off the court is, the better chance of winning. To me its not just about the game. Its about leadership and growing as a person and just having fun with everyone. Life. I am also looking for an assistant coaching job with anyone who is willing to have me. i am to passionate and ready. Willing to start with a volunteer position as well.

Hey Nate, to get a job/ position in this business, it is about who you know. So, my immediate advice for you is to contact as many college coaches in your area and ask if you can work any of there camps. I would start by going online and searching for a list of colleges in the area, then print out that list. Then go on each school's athletics website, find men's basketball, the find the coaching staff, then choose to either email or call the entire coaching staff. Generally the head coach is not in charge of camps so try assistant coaches first. You need to "network" as much as possible to even have a chance at getting into this business.

The most important part takes the longest to establish and that is contacts! You have to build relationships and advocacy! I'm not sure about the immigration laws but I realize the issuance of visas is a sign of support! If you are willing to volunteer maybe you can concentrate and focus on schools in cities close to the border. NY has an extensive JUCO and D3 system. Let me give you the key - PLAYERS! You must show the ability to get quality players...GOOD LUCK!!!

Hey Coach, there's really no easy way to go about it, I will say this, make sure your resume' is up to date, and just be consistant as well as professional.

Coach Nate, Its not easy finding a good coaching position to begin with. Here in New Jersey if you're looking for a high school position you will need (at minimum) an Associates Degree or be a certified substitute teacher for that specific school district. Getting to know the school system and administration and living in the area really helps. From a college standpoint - there seems to be a good amount of DIII positions available here in New Jersey. All do require a BS and some college / NCAA experience. They generally don't pay that well but pay your dues and it can be a good stepping stone to better opportunities. There are a variety of web sites you can find these positions - Good Luck
