Harvard getting Blue Chip Recruits?

It's incredible what an historic season can do for recruiting.  After barely missing the NCAA Tournament, Harvard has cranked up the recruiting just a tad.  Last weekend Coach Amaker hosted eight prospects, six of whom are ranked in the top 100 of their prospective classes.  I'm wondering how many top 100 recruits it would take to have an impact in the Ivy League.  Not many I presume.  You can read the full article in the Harvard Crimson - …

Are Mid Major Coaches Better Recruiters?

Interesting article on the ESPN College Basketball Blog that quotes Bill Self saying Mid Major coaches are the best recruiters because they can project how good a 15 or 16 year old player will be when they are 21. Major programs have to at the player's immediate impact as they will likely not stay all four years. NCAA Recruiting Article

Awesome article on ESPN.com in regard to NCAA recruiting violations. Dana O' Neil interviewed 20 coaches anonymously about the state of college basketball and most of all the shady dealings pertaining to recruiting.

Where do you guys stand on this? Anyone had to deal with this kind of trash?

NCAA Recruiting Reform

The NCAA appears to be heading toward some recruiting reforms. Here are some of the highlights from the Washington Post article.



"The NCAA intends to prohibit schools from hiring individuals associated with a prospect for two years before or after the prospect's anticipated enrollment. The NCAA's definition of an individual close to a prospect includes parents, guardians, handlers, athletic trainers and coaches. "
