Interesting article about Kelvin Sampson on CBSSports.com. The article touches on Sampson's time with the Milwaukee Bucks and on his NCAA violations. Sampson's five year show cause penalty for making illegal phone call violations could be construed as a bit harsh....granted he did it twice, at two different schools, but the punishment does seem a little much after reading this quote from a high ranking NCAA official:
"We don't even care about that anymore. We aren't even wasting our…Continue

Pervis Ellison the overall number one pick in the 1989 NBA draft has taken a high school job at Life Center Academy, a private school in Burlington, N.J. Got to admire a guy looking to give back to the sport that gave him so much.
I wonder if it will help with recruiting to have a one-time #1 NBA Draft pick coaching your team? You got to figure with all the…Continue
The National High School Basketball Coach Association (NHSBCA) has a good read on using technology to communicate with your players and simplify the process of running your program. It doesn't reveal any thing ground breaking but has a few good ideas for getting a hold of players, what technologies to use in order to teach your kids the game, and also how to promote your program. Nice read about Indiana basketball coach Tom Crean helping with the search for a 20 year old missing IU student. Love to see coaches taking part in the community in which they coach. Shows life is not all about wins and losses......
It's incredible what an historic season can do for recruiting. After barely missing the NCAA Tournament, Harvard has cranked up the recruiting just a tad. Last weekend Coach Amaker hosted eight prospects, six of whom are ranked in the top 100 of their prospective classes. I'm wondering how many top 100 recruits it would take to have an impact in the Ivy League. Not many I presume. You can read the full article in the Harvard Crimson - …Continue

Rick Pitino is firing shots at the Big East members that left for the ACC. Not only is he speaking his mind he's also laying out some compelling facts. On his blog, Pitino asks "Didn’t they check Boston College’s championship totals since leaving the BIG EAST -- one, in soccer in 2005". Good question.
He also wants the Big East to quickly secure four football schools to join the conference. His suggestions:
"Central Florida? Is Baylor or Iowa State…Continue

Apparently, I am not smart enough to fully understand these realignments. Is it just me or did it feel like the media made the Big East out to be the greatest basketball league in the history of the game last season? Then somehow the following season three of the big boys leave for greener pastures. I think I read somewhere that this has something to do with others sports like Football and Lacrosse. I suppose I can see the football angle as it is a huge revenue generator for the the…Continue
