Severn, MD (March 27, 2012) – While the country will be tuning in to the Final Four on Saturday and Monday to see the nation’s best college talent, on Sunday the Bay Area Shuckers will be giving basketball fans a look at former college stars from conferences including the Atlantic Coast, America East, Big East, and Conference USA, who now are making their mark in the professional ranks.
This Sunday, April 1st, beginning at 1:30 PM the Bay Area Shuckers will be hosting The Bank of Glen Burnie ACPBL All-Star Game and iBallMag.com Three-Point and Slam Dunk Competitions at Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Maryland.
With teams in major metropolitan areas including Baltimore, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York City, and Hartford, Connecticut the Atlantic Coast Professional Basketball League (ACPBL) showcases some of the nation’s top pro basketball talent.
Today, the ACPBL announced the participants in the All-Star Game as well as the Three-Point Shot and Slam Dunk Competitions.
The South Team will include two Bay Area Shuckers, Adrian Bowie from the University of Maryland and former Baltimore area prep star and standout at Maryland Bible, Terry Hosley. The South squad also includes the Beltway Bombers Rogers Barnes from Morgan State and Hugh “Baby Shaq” Jones, the reigning ACPBL Most Valuable Player and AND1 Tour star. The South will also feature the Garden State Rebels Justin Carter (Rutgers-Newark), Fahreed Cheatham (Cheyney University) from league leading Palmieri Jeans, and the Toms River Shooters Mike Konopka (Stony Brook).
The North Team is also stacked with talent. Former St. John’s Redmen Dele Coker from the North Jersey Pros will be featured along with Brian McKenzie of the Hartford Lightning (Providence College), NYC 524’s Johnnie Green (Manhattan College), and Kareem Corprew (SUNY Cobleskill) of the Manhattan Pride.
Before the All-Star Game tips-off at 3:10, the Three-Point and Slam Dunk Competitions will start at 1:40. The Thee-Point contest will feature several sharpshooters including the Shuckers’ Hosley, Steve Miles (American University) from the Beltway Bombers, Palmieri’s Anis Taylor (Bethume-Cookman), the Pros’ Luis Martinez (William Patterson), Manhattan’s William Modeste (NYU-Polytechnic), and Brian Graham from NYC 524.
Following the Three-Point Competition the ACPBL’s Best Slam Dunkers will take the court. Hosley will be doing triple duty for the Shuckers and also representing the All-Stars hosts in the Slam Dunk competition. Fans will be looking for the thundering dunks of Antonio Hayman (Marshall) and Manhattan’s Sharel Joseph, Vincent Brooks of the Rebels, Toms River’s Jed Marquez, and Diedrick King of the Lightning will all be vying for the title of Slam Dunk king.
The day full of basketball fun will start with gates opening at 1:30 PM. At 1:40 the iBallMag.com Three Point Shot and Slam Dunk Competitions will take place pitting the ACPBL best long range shooters and dunk masters against each other. The Bank of Glen Burnie All-Star Game will tip-off at 3:10 PM.
The Slam Dunk and 3-Point Competitions will be announced by WBALTV Sports Anchor and Reporter Pete Gilbert and WNAV Radio’s Wiley Baker will announce the All-Star Game to fans at Spalding.
The afternoon will also be filled with vendors, contests, giveaways, and performances by the Bay Area Shuckers Dance Team.
