Arkansas State University Mid-South is located in West Memphis, Arkansas, just across the Mississippi River from Memphis, Tennessee.

This is a full-time, 10-month position which combines the functions of assistant basketball coach and intramural director.

The Assistant Basketball Coach will assist the head coach of both the men’s and women’s basketball teams in all aspects of operating a collegiate basketball program. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree, college coaching experience and a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

The Intramural Director reports to the Director of the Dr. Barbara Baxter Learning Success Center and the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and has responsibilities for the following: develop and manage an intramurals program, manage the Thomas B. Goldsby Athletic Training Center, promote a team environment among participants, develop and enforce guidelines for safe use of facilities, and develop a schedule for use of facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education, kinesiology, or related field with 2 years’ experience leading fitness and sports programs
  • Experience working with disadvantaged, minority and/or low income students
  • Good organizational, communication, and computer skills
  • Experience teaching or working in programs to promote wellness and physical fitness
  • Background similar to that of ASU Mid-South students preferred.
