This position reports to the Head Coach. The Assistant Coach will assist the head coach in competitive NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball program to include recruitment of athletes; practice and game coaching; teaching; and off-season programs. Duties and responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following: implementing practice and game plans; skill instruction and player development; recruitment of student-athletes; administering weight and conditioning program; arranging travel; administrative duties in office; fundraising; monitoring academic progress; camps; public relations and community involvement; establishing and maintaining a professional network with area coaches and assisting in the supervision of the Parker Center activities, including events that are beyond the scope of athletics. Performs related work as required
Master’s degree is preferred. Bachelor’s degree is required. The successful candidate must have experience in coaching or playing. Ability to recruit student athletes with potential of academic and athletic success. Working knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations. Knowledge of compliance issues concerning the administration of intercollegiate athletics. Must have a good driving record. Must be available to work a varied schedule to include extensive night and weekend hours. Ability to work in high-energy environment. Ability to use discretion and judgment. Ability to make decisions based upon assessment of situations. Ability to plan, schedule, and manage projects and assignments. Must be capable of working harmoniously with a diverse population. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff. Ability to clearly communicate and promote campus image. High degree of communication skills, written and spoken, required. Must comply with established College rules and procedures.
