Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach/Coordinator of Intramurals, Club Sports and Camps | Dominican University

The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting with the oversight and coordination of the women’s basketball team including but not limited to:

  1. adhering to NCAA, conference and Dominican University rules and regulations;
  2. assisting with identifying and recruiting academically and athletically qualified candidates to maintain roster range;
  3. assisting with the management of the operating budget and agency account for respective program;
  4. assisting in the development of competitive schedule;
  5. assisting in the monitoring of student-athletes’ academic performance;
  6. assisting in the coordination of team travel and meals;
  7. assisting with the coordination of team transportation needs with the Assistant Director of Athletics;
  8. assisting with working with NACC official assignor and processing appropriate paperwork for compensation;
  9. assisting with the purchase, distribution, collection and inventory of team uniforms, equipment and supplies;
  10. assisting with the coordination of respective team fundraising;
  11. accepting and fulfilling other duties as assigned.

The Coordinator of Intramurals, Club Sports and Camps is responsible for but not limited to:

  1. adhering to Dominican University and the Department of Athletics rules and regulations;
  2. assisting with event management and/or serve as contest manager;
  3. overseeing the budget for all intramural programs and club sports within the Department of Athletics;
  4. overseeing the hiring process and serving as the direct report for all head coaches in all aspects of respective club sport;
  5. developing, coordinating and growing Department of Athletics camps, clubs and intramural programming;
  6. coordinating all facilities needs for intramural programs, club sports and camps;
  7. coordinating club sports with Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance;
  8. coordinating transportation needs for all intramural programs and club sports through the Assistant Director of Athletics;
  9. recording participation in Department of Athletics camps, club sports and intramurals programs;
  10. working with parties in scheduling of all Department of Athletics intramural events and camps;
  11. working with Department of Athletics and external partners to develop marketing strategies for athletic camps;
  12. serving as the liaison to the Office of Student Involvement;
  13. serving as liaison between the Department of Athletics and the surrounding communities for camps/clinics;
  14. serving as the Department of Athletics Homecoming committee chair;
  15. coordinating the Department of Athletics Homecoming events;

Please note that the assignment of administrative responsibilities is reviewed each year or as personnel changes occur.  Assignments may be rotate to capitalize on the skill sets of coaches and assistant coaches.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with NCAA Division III Rules and Regulations
  • Proficiency in various computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Strong organizational and written skills
  • Ability to function in growing environment
  • Strong collaborative abilities
  • Role modeling
  • Ability to work graciously with various groups of people

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree in related field preferred

Previous coaching experience required, collegiate coaching experience preferred

A background screening is required.
