Position Title:Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach
Department:Athletics
FLSA (exempt or non-exempt):Exempt
Working Relationships: •Reports to:Head Women’s Basketball Coach
•Works Closely with:Athletic Department Staff, Women’s Basketball Staff, Admissions Staff, and University Marketing Staff
•Directly Supervises:None
Job Summary:The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the women’s basketball program, particularly recruiting, travel management, on campus events, on court instruction, and scouting for opponents. The Assistant Coach will assist in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes and the retention and success of current student-athletes, which is of the utmost importance and priority. The Assistant Coach may serve as the Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball Junior Varsity Program.

Primary Responsibilities:
Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach 1.Recruit prospective student-athletes. Including but not limited to: a.Camps b.Traveling for games throughout the calendar year c.Planning visits and hosting recruits on campus d.Weekly recruit contacts & growth/management of database 2.Manage travel for the team including buses, uniforms, and meals 3.Handle video responsibilities for women’s basketball including CCIW required video exchange, video breakdown of Millikin practices and games, and opponents’ scouting preparation 4.Assist with practice planning and game preparation 5.On-court coaching in practice and games as allowed by CCIW and NCAA regulations 6.Perform duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
Other Duties:
1.Serve as Griswold Gym Monitor. 2.Assistant with other game management for other Millikin sports 3.Laundry assistant
Work Environment:
Manual Dexterity: •Dexterity to operate a keyboard •Dexterity to operate a video camera
Physical Effort: •Typically sitting/standing/bending/stooping •Occasionally lifting 25 lbs. or less •Hearing and visual acuity within normal range
Working Conditions: •Typical working conditions found in a gymnasium setting •Alternative or flexible work schedules •Travel and/or periodic overnight travel

Minimum Position Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in coaching preferred
• Extensive knowledge of the sport of basketball
• Knowledge of, or ability to learn, technology skills needed to perform listed responsibilities
• Ability to recruit and retain quality women’s basketball student-athletes
• Excellent organization, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to various audiences
• Ability and willingness to work effectively in a team atmosphere in the Athletic Department
• Strong commitment to the University and NCAA Division III philosophy
• Demonstrated commitment to the academic and athletic success of the student-athlete
