Responsibilities:
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Athletics Department is seeking a qualified Chief of Staff for Women’s Basketball. This position will report directly to Head Women’s Basketball Coach. This position’s primary duties include overseeing the daily operations of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball team and providing support for the Head Women’s Basketball Coach.
– Serve as staff resource to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach by providing coordination and planning between the Women’s Basketball staff and the senior administrative staff.
– Coordinate the daily operational and logistical processes with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Women’s Basketball program.
– Oversee and manage the department’s budget.
– Make all decisions relating to all equipment orders.
– Monitor the number of contacts and evaluations conducted by the coaching staff and work with Athletics Compliance to ensure records are consistent.
– Coordinate completion and submission of required business paperwork and expense reports.
– Supervise coordination of travel (commercial, charter and state pooling board) for coaches on the road recruiting).
– Develop, direct and implement an effective public relations plan and promotional events related to the Women’s Basketball program.
– Coordinate special events for the Women’s Basketball program.
– Supervise communication with coaches and/or prospects when traveling to campus.
– Serve as a liaison between all departments on recruiting matters (compliance, student services, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, travel, business, facilities, housing, parking, tickets, Community Services etc.).
– Supervise planning and coordinating of official and unofficial visits to campus (itineraries, travel, hotel, hosts, meals name tags, seating charts, compliance paperwork, complimentary tickets, etc.)
– Coordinate Women’s Basketball team travel including, but not limited to, transportation, meals and housing arrangements, will be required to travel to all home and away competition.
– Monitor and work collaboratively with the staff to keep them updated on changes in the rules (University, Sun Belt and NCAA).
– Coordinates all student-athlete sessions with the nutritionist, strength coaches, sports medicine trainers,
– Coordinate all activities with the Student Athlete Academic Center to include academic advising and tutoring.
– Organize student athlete development.
– Supervise all student managers for the Women’s Basketball program.
– Support the educational mission of the University and the professional obligation to enhance intercollegiate athletics by providing opportunities to educate students interested in this field.
– Provide broad based and specific experience to students through internship opportunities and student worker positions.
– Be committed to the compliance process and assist with rules education.
– Serve as an ambassador of the University and its Athletics Department to all public entities.
– Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
– Excellent communication, organizational, teaching, public relations, interpersonal, customer service and supervisory skills.
– Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others; commitment to working with multi-cultural populations.
– Have strong work ethic and be of high character principle.
– Ability to work extended daily hours, evenings, and weekends as needed.
– Knowledge of the NCAA Division 1 Basketball program preferred.
– Committed to adhere to the University, NCAA, and Sun Belt Conference rules and regulations.
– Ability to work extended daily hours, evenings, and weekends as needed.
– Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) from a regionally accredited institution.
– One (1) year experience working in athletics at a college/university or comparable preferred.
