Director of Athletics | Davis & Elkins College

Required Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree
•    Five or more years of progressive leadership experience related to athletics, education and/or a related field
•    Experience managing a multi-faceted department, which includes multiple functions, personnel, and responsibilities
•    Supervisory experience
•    Experience working in a profession in which compliance with multiple agencies must be maintained
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills
•    Ability to work and communicate effectively with internal and external constituents
•    Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community involvement
•    Commitment to academic and athletic excellence and the health and success of all student-athletes

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Master’s degree in Sports Management, Higher Education Leadership, MBA or a related field
•    A combination of seven years of experience as a college/university head coach, athletic director, associate or assistant athletic director, or compliance coordinator
•    Experience with NCAA or NCAA II or NAIA regulations, compliance, philosophies, and Title IX
•    Ability to communicate effectively with campus constituents, community leaders, media and donors Experience scheduling, managing or monitoring special events, especially those related to intercollegiate athletics
•    Experience with organizational design, strategic planning, and fiscal alignment
•    Experience as a fiscal manager of complex budgets with various revenue sources
•    Ability to uphold high ethical standards, understand the academic mission of the D&E, and provide leadership accordingly
•    Ability to successfully plan and implement fundraising strategies for intercollegiate athletics
•    Skills related to athletics facilities planning, renovations, project funding and/or new construction
•    Ability to attract and retain top talent
