Director of Women’s Basketball Operations

The George Mason University, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking a Director of Women’s Basketball Operations. Reporting to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, the Director of Basketball Operations administers and organizes the day to day operations of the women’s basketball office and facilitates communication among staff members.

•Travel (team/individual/recruiting)
•Coordinate all travel logistics for staff and team;
•Coordinate with Recruiting Coordinator all official/unofficial visits with recruits and families;
•Assist the Recruiting Coordinator with recruiting schedule for all coaches while traveling; and
•Travels with the team with responsibility for ensuring that all planned logistics are carried out appropriately and address any coordination problems that may arise.

•Collaborate with the Special Assistant to the Head Coach to coordinate the Head Coaches calendar;
•Maintain databases, create and distribute basketball newsletter; schedule appointments; and generate correspondence letters to recruits;
•Respond for coaches and staff through verbal and/or written communication to a wide variety of inquiries;
•Anticipate, prepare, organize, and plan practice schedules, equipment requirements, and supplies for the team;
•Collaborate with visiting basketball teams to schedule practice times and assist with game day needs; and
•Coordinates all information and details with appropriate support and event staff.

Team Functions
•Collaborate with Graduate Assistants to coordinate team functions including community service/relations opportunities;
•Coordinate and organize end of year banquet and Senior night; and
•Provide daily updates to Teamwork’s calendar for all staff.

Budget Control
•Process and monitor budget expenditures; and
•Specifically responsible for maintaining fiscal control over team travel, student-athlete fueling program, and equipment and apparel purchases.

Championship Arrangements
•Assist in athletic event management and special projects as needed.

Video/Graphic Design
•Provides all video, film breakdown, and video clips for Director of Analytics;
•Uses film exchange software to coordinate all film exchange during the season; and
•Provide technology assistance for staff.

Marketing, Graphic Design and Social Media
•Develop and provide graphics for social and print media; and
•Responsible for maintaining and updating the Women’s basketball team’s social network sites.

Equipment and Apparel
•Position will require use of a University-issued purchasing card; adherence to all University and Commonwealth of Virginia policies related to purchasing card is required.

Director of Summer Camps (team, individual, elite)
•Coordinate all Basketball Camps in accordance with University policies and procedures; and
•Design recruitment marketing materials while ensuring compliance with the team’s marketing/recruitment goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
•Collegiate basketball playing experience and/or previous work experience in collegiate basketball;
•Demonstrated organizational skills;
•Thorough oral and written communication skills;
•Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information;
•Knowledge of NCAA Division 1 rules and regulations;
•Work schedule regularly includes days, evenings, weekends and holidays; and
•Must currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator’s license that meets all of GMU’s requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason’s Vehicle Use Policy 1411 The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver’s licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review.

Preferred Qualifications:
•Knowledge of collegiate athletic budget processes;
•Video technology skills necessary for producing scouting and practice tapes; and
•Graphic designs skills for social and print media.
