Tarleton State University Graduate Assistant for Athletic Communications This is a 12-month part-time (half time) position that reports directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations. The successful candidate must enroll as a full-time graduate student at Tarleton State University, NCAA Division I school in Stephenville, Texas. Tarleton is a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Graduate Assistants must be able to meet and maintain eligibility for graduate assistance employment with Tarleton State University, which includes current or future enrollment for a minimum of six hours per semester while employed. Tarleton is a member of the Western Athletic Conference. The year-long contract includes a paid stipend with an option for benefits. Duties and Responsibilities The Graduate Assistant for Athletic Communications will serve as the primary media contact for women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf. Duties include writing and editing press releases; working with StatCrew and LiveStats statistical software; promoting athletic teams and student athletes via social media; organizing interviews for coaches, staff and student-athletes with local, regional and national media; daily maintenance of the athletics website; graphic design and video highlights; preparing weekly conference reports and student-athlete award nominations; assisting in home event management and staffing; other duties as assigned. Travel is required. Qualifications The successful candidate must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at Tarleton State University, NCAA Division I school in Stephenville, Texas. Preferred Qualifications
AP writing experience preferred; Knowledge of Mac and/or Windows; Knowledge of the assigned sports; Skills with Adobe Premiere, InDesign, and Photoshop, as well as Microsoft Word.
