Graduate Assistants (Athletic Operations, Sports Information, and Recreation/Intramurals) | Lawrence Technological University

Lawrence Technological University is an NAIA Institution located in Southfield, Mich., “The Center of it All,” seeking a graduate assistants within the department of athletics and student recreation. The following assistantships are available (see descriptions below):

Sports Information The GA in sports information will assist the SID in the coverage of the university’s 30+ athletic teams. RESPONSIBILITIES: Candidate will assist the Director of Sports Information in all areas of sports information for the University’s athletic teams. Must be available to work selected nights and weekends. Keep statistics for assigned sports of: men’s and women’s volleyball, football, basketball, soccer, and baseball/softball, men’s and women’s lacrosse, hockey, and more. Work as main contact for assigned sports. You will be responsible for but not limited to maintaining statistics, game previews, game recaps, gameday programs, social media, and any other jobs related to your assigned sport. Maintain the athletic website ( for your assigned sports with updated scores, stories, and recent recruit information. Familiarity with SIDHelp a plus, but not necessary. Travel with teams when schedule allows for you to travel.

Athletic Operations The GA in athletic operations will assist the Director of Athletics and the Assistant Director in the game day management of its 30+ athletic teams. The GA will be responsible for the coordination of student staff as well as set up and clean up of the events hosted by LTU. Knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations a plus. Must be available to work nights and weekends. Candidates should have great interpersonal skills as dealing with coaches, alumni, community members, etc. is expected. Candidates will assist the department in the promotion and marketing of athletic events on and around campus.

Recreation/Intramurals The graduate assistant for student recreation will provide general oversight for the entire department to include, but not limited to: intramural sports, facility operations, fitness programs, wellness programs, athletic operations and special events. The graduate assistant will assist the Director and Assistant Director in all aspects of the Student Recreation Department at LTU.•Organize intramural leagues and tournaments for LTU students •Record stats, scores, and participation numbers for all intramural events •Market and promote intramural leagues and tournaments to increase participation •Assist in the training of student staff (officials, stat/score keepers, supervisors, etc.) •Provide supervision of intramural contests on a regular basis Operations•Identify general maintenance needs for the facility•Oversee student desk staff •Schedule student desk staff and serve as their direct supervisor •Forward any maintenance issues to the Assistant Director/Director •Manage the facility’s master calendar for court reservation Fitness/Wellness Programs •Help promote Tech Rec Fitness programs •Identify special events for the fitness program •Increase student participation in LTU’s fitness/wellness program
