Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Supervise and direct and coordinate the activities of the women’s basketball staff in the planning, organizing and coaching of the University of West Georgia women’s basketball team; ensure compliance with the university, conference, and NCAA policies and regulations
• Direct the women’s basketball staff in the preparation of analyses of opponent teams; analyze game statistics and technical data of opponents and prepare game plans accordingly
• Develop a yearly recruiting plan and collaborate with appropriate campus partners to facilitate recruiting activities
• Student-athlete skill and character development
• Monitoring and support of student-athlete academic achievement
• Determine fiscal requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditures of budgeted funds
• Represent the University of West Georgia athletic department in professional, civic and alumni events
• Develop and execute a fundraising strategy in coordination with the Director of Athletics to increase revenues to enhance the student-athlete experience
• Administrative duties
• Other duties assigned by the Director of Athletics
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- At least three years of collegiate coaching experience
- Demonstrated ability in skill development, staff supervision, and general administrative duties
- Ability to promote a positive environment that allows the student-athletes to succeed academically, athletically, and in the community. Knowledge of rules and skills of basketball
- Ability to instruct student-athletes in skills and safety
- Ability to recruit talented student-athletes
- Experience and/or ability to fundraise and experience with managing basketball camps to generate revenue for the program
- Knowledge of NCAA and Gulf South Conference rules and procedures
- Strong communication and organizational skills are required
- Ability to travel; night and weekend work required
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured to drive college vehicles required
