This IUPUI Head Women’s Basketball Coach, NCAA is responsible for the duties normally associated with a Division I head coach including prospect evaluation, recruiting, training, coaching, student-athlete academic achievement, student-athlete conduct and welfare, compliance with the NCAA, conference and institutional rules, budgetary control, scheduling assistance, promotions, public relations, development activities and the overall effective performance of the student-athletes and coaching staff.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

Provides leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes, including counseling team members in academic, disciplinary, sportsmanship, and personal matters, as appropriate. Develops a competitively successful team that represents IUPUI positively and responsibly, and which provides student-athletes the opportunity for a positive experience and climate in which to achieve their academic, athletic, and personal goals. Represents the team, department, and university in a positive, professional, and ethical manner; appropriately responds to media, marketing, fund-raising, and community service requests, as assigned. Exhibits professionalism in a manner, which is consistent with the missions and goals of IUPUI, the conference, and the NCAA. Performs recruiting duties including, but not limited to, formulating a plan to incorporate coverage of all prospective student-athletes on a national level. Recruits high-quality student-athletes that meet or exceed university qualifications. Complies fully with all NCAA, conference, and IUPUI rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Performs other duties as specified in the coach’s employment agreement and as assigned.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 5 years of coaching experience.

Preferred

  • Coaching experience at the collegiate level, preferably Division 1.

LICENCES AND CERTIFICATES

Preferred

  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.
  • Maintain certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED.
  • Ability to obtain certification by the NCAA on an annual basis to recruit and understand all policies related to recruiting.
