Assistant Coach, Women’s Basketball Arkansas – Fort Smith

The assistant coach is responsible for all aspects of practice and game preparation as directed by the head coach, including offensive and defensive drills, individual player improvement, game organization, and pre- and post-season improvement programs.  Will assist with recruiting players by identifying and assessing talent, communicating by phone, mail, or in person with prospective recruits, and assisting with the production of various recruiting materials; enhance student academics through arranging study halls and tutoring sessions; monitor student housing at home and on the road; serve as a liaison between players and the head coach; and monitor possible disciplinary actions or disputes.  Additional duties may include assisting with Athletic Department fund raising; providing staff support to other sports programs within the department during their respective seasons; and perform other duties as assigned.  Attendance at all home and away matches is required, and additional travel may be required for recruiting purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and verifiable experience coaching women’s basketball.  Valid drivers’ license and good driving record required (MVR completed on finalists).  Demands of the position require knowledge of all aspects of women’s basketball; good communication and interpersonal skills; and successful completion of NCAA recruiting exam.  Must be (or quickly become) familiar with University policies, including University athletic policies, Division II women’s basketball programs, Heartland Conference rules, NCAA rules and regulations.  Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.
