|Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach
The Athletics Department at Towson University is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. This position has primary responsibilities for oversight of student-athlete academic progress and serves as the scouting director.
Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Director of Academic Achievement to oversee the academic progress of all student-athletes in the women’s basketball program; coordinate study hall during travel periods and ensure compliance with all academic policies and obligations; coordinate all aspects of scouting including responsibility for all technology and ensuring tape is prepared for staff and student-athletes of both opponents and the Towson team; coordinate all scouting assignments with the remaining coaching staff; assist in all aspects of practice and game coaching; provide skill instruction for student-athletes including individual sessions, small groups, and total team training; recruit student-athletes by attending games, tournaments, home visits, and school visits; make recommendations to the Recruiting Coordinator and Head Coach on which prospective student-athletes should receive a scholarship offer from Towson; and perform other duties as assigned by the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, including compliance with all NCAA rules.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and one year of successful coaching at the camp/clinic, high school, collegiate, or professional level. The selected candidate must have knowledge of University, conference, and NCAA rules, regulations, and requirements; strong organizational skills and quality recruiting experience; proven ability to train and recruit at the Division I collegiate level; ability to accept and carry out assigned program and responsibilities; ability to communicate effectively and work well with students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community; ability to pass the NCAA recruiting test; a demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically; ability to work collaboratively within the structure and framework of an Athletics department and University; and the ability to confidently and competently lead a training session for women. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
