Short Bio

Davon Miller, a native of Compton, California, is a qualified leader and basketball coach. He holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from Loyola University Chicago and he served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Navy.

Miller is no stranger to basketball, having spent 17 years as a head coach for boys and girl’s high school and AAU basketball, where he focused on what he calls “College Prep Basketball.”  He ensured his players became brilliant at the basics. Focusing on footwork, fundamentals and basketball IQ.  

Miller has more than 7 years of college exposure experience resulting in a 95% success rate in student athlete college commitments.

Prior to starting his coaching career at Wright State Lake, Miller spent 20 years as a Sailor in the U.S. Navy, 7 of which was spent as a Chief Petty Officer. He brings a wealth of leadership experience to our program.

Before joining the U.S Navy, Miller was a standout baseball player. Playing for American River College and later one season with the Montreal Expos rookie league before having a career ending injury.

As the top assistant, Coach Miller will be responsible for player development, recruiting, scouting  and he will start and lead our first ever JV team.

After a successful career in the Navy and prep basketball, Miller now mentors student athletes on how to set high goals and achieve them through hard work and dedication. Currently, Miller has three kids, all playing college basketball.
