Sports Information Director | Eastern New Mexico University

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The SID will have direct supervisory responsibilities over the CSIM.  The SID will share sport assignments with the CSIM.  Primary contacts will be determined.
  • The SID will report directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, Events and Sports Information
  • Oversight of video scoreboard operation home football
  • Instant Replay operations for home basketball and volleyball
  • Video streaming for all home athletic events
  • For the assigned sports:
    • Coordinate preseason activities, including previews and quick facts
    • Develop, write, and arrange for printing of news releases, programs, web-based media guides, schedules, pictures, and other pertinent public relations material for the Department and its sport programs, all in a timely manner
    • Prepare media guides and/or recruiting guides, press releases, advance game information, social media updates
    • Working with the Compliance Coordinator maintain accurate and up-to-date team rosters
    • Coordinate press box and score table administration with the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, Events and Sports Information and the Assistant Athletic Director for Facility Operations.
    • Coordinate and collaborate with KENW regarding all intersects
    • Compile and distribute statistics and records
    • Coordinate news conferences, radio and television production (when applicable)
    • Set all pre-game activities, including, but not limited to set up and checking all equipment, including video (web) streaming set up, and instant replay.
    • Prepare supplemental athletic publications
    • Coordinate photography for all athletic events
    • Coordinate with the CSIM, as well as the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, Events and Sports Information for event promotions and game sponsorships.
    • Assist in the planning, operations, coordination, promotion and execution of special events such as the annual hall of honors weekend.
    • Cooperate, collaborate, and coordinate with the ENMU Director of Communication Services regarding publications, licensing/branding, promotions and other duties.
    • Operate as a team member in the athletic department and as an employee of the institution
    • Compile historical reporting
    • Nominate and promote individual student-athletes, coaches, programs and staff members for recognition and awards
    • Operate and have oversight for social media for the athletic department
    • Compile, distribute, and report all statistical information for coaches, the LSC, the NCAA and other SID’s with colleges and universities which compete with ENMU
    • In conjunction with respective head coaches, coordinate Greyhound Arena lobby displays
  • For Department of Athletic Communications:
    • Coordinate the athletic website, goeasternathletics.com
    • Assist with game operations
    • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
  • Working to maintain and meet NCAA compliance as it relates to job functions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in athletics administration, communications or applicable field.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working in a collegiate sports information office
  • Ability to write and report the news of the athletic department with competency
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate and work well with a variety of people in a fast-paced and highly demanding environment
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in athletic statistical software
  • Strong desire to grow professionally
  • Ability to successfully hire and supervise student workers
  • Demonstrated skill sets and desire to work with mature professionalism with colleagues, supervisors, subordinates, students, athletes, coaches, boosters and constituents in a professional environment

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Masters degree in athletic administration, communications or applicable field
  • Demonstrated successful experience working in the intercollegiate athletics sports information field
 Working Conditions:
Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed during normal business hours and will include substantial evening and weekend hours and requires occasional travel.
  • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
