🏀 HoopCoach Analytics User Guide

HoopCoach Analytics relies on a single active team selection that synchronizes seamlessly across all five web applications.

  Select or Create Your Team

  Open the Coach Dashboard and choose an existing team or click + Create New Team. Give your team a name (e.g., "Varsity Boys 2026").

  Automatic Cross-Tool Syncing

  Once selected, your active team ID is saved in your browser. Launching any tool (+/− Tracker, Shot Chart, Possession Tracker, Boxscore Entry) will automatically associate recorded data with that active team.

The Dashboard aggregates real-time data from every game recorded across all tools into season-wide charts and tables.

The Assistant Coach AI analyzes your team's real-time statistical anomalies and qualitative coach's notes to produce tailored coaching advice.

  Navigate to AI Insights Tab

  Select your team in the Dashboard and click the ✨ AI Insights tab.

  Click "Generate AI Insights"

  The system analyzes your team's shooting percentages, top 5-man lineup efficiencies, boxscore averages, and recent Coach's Log entries.

  Review Actionable Coaching Advice

  Receive 3 concise, plain-English recommendations on rotation tweaks, defensive priorities, or offensive adjustments. Click 🔄 Regenerate anytime for updated insights.

  Write Strategic Context

  Type in notes during or after games (e.g., "We ran a 2-3 zone in Q3. Point guard was in foul trouble early.").

  Save to Database

  Click Save Note. Notes are timestamped and stored under your team ID.

  AI Context Integration

  Your 5 most recent notes are automatically read by the Assistant Coach AI to ensure its recommendations align with your actual game situations.

  Setup Starters & Opponent

  Enter the opponent's name and set your active 5 players currently on the court.

  Log Scoring & Substitutions

  Click +1, +2, or +3 for Us or Opponent as points are scored. Tap a bench player and select who they replace to log live substitutions.

  Save Game

  Click Save Game to sync game events into Supabase and update your team's lineup leaderboard on the Dashboard.

  Plot Shot Location

  Tap or click on the interactive digital court exactly where the shot took place.

  Assign Player & Outcome

  Select the shooter from your roster popup and mark the outcome as Made (green circle) or Missed (red circle).

  FT, Rebounds & Turnovers

  Toggle FT Mode for free throws, Rebound Mode for offensive/defensive rebounds, or log turnovers directly to complete game stats.

  Track Passes & Ball Reversals

  Tap + Pass for every pass in an offensive sequence. Tap + Ball Reversal when the ball swings across the floor.

  Rate Shot Quality & Result

  Select Good Shot or Bad Shot quality, then log the result (Made, Missed, Turnover, or Foul).

  Log Possession

  Click Log Possession to record the play. Review Points Per Possession (PPP) metrics by quarter and game date.

  Enter Game Info & Select Quarter

  Specify opponent name, game date, and select the active quarter (Q1–Q4 or OT).

  Input Player Stat Line

  Enter points, field goals (FGM/FGA), 3-pointers, free throws, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, turnovers, and fouls per player.

  Save & Sync Season Averages

  Click Save Game Boxscore. Player season averages on the Dashboard automatically update across all games.
