The Strength and Conditioning Coach is an exempt, 12-month, full-time position reporting to the Director of Athletics. It is the responsibility of the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach to design, organize, implement, facilitate, oversee and evaluate all facets of the SC Athletics Strength and Conditioning Program, including effective communication with coaches and athletic training staff for current team status and injury analysis. Administrative duties include the maintenance and upkeep to the SC training facility, attendance at assigned team competitions and the education and mentoring of graduate assistant coaches and work-study student employees.
Experience The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach must possess expert knowledge in working with a wide array of student-athletes and sports teams. Experience related to the concepts of periodization of training, progressive overload, movement variation, movement selection, and movement techniques, nutrition, and recovery methods are essential.

Qualifications and Special Skills: •Previous strength and conditioning experience is required. Required qualifications include a Bachelors degree and 3-5 years professional strength training experience •Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures •Knowledge of and skill in use of computers and software applications, specifically Microsoft Office •Skill preparing, monitoring and maintaining budgets •Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner •Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations •Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information •Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate action to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision making processes •Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public
Education and Certifications Must possess a BA/BS in Exercise Science or related field along with a minimum requirement of 3-5 years professional strength and conditioning experience and one (1) of the following certifications: •National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA): Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) •United States of America Weightlifting Association (USAW) •Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) – Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC)
