Post Play for a Strong Post Passer
Initial Setup & The Back Screen
The Entry: The play operates through the high post player (let’s call them the 5) who has the ball at the right elbow.
The Screen: As soon as the 5 has the ball, Player 4 dives down from the right wing into the paint to set a back screen on Player 1’s defender.
The Cuts & Floor Spacing
Player 1’s Cut: Player 1 (originating from the left elbow) uses Player 4’s back screen to make a hard dive directly to the rim.
Player 4 pops immediately after setting the screen, Player 4 pops out to the right wing/corner to pull their defender away from the paint and maintain spacing.
Player 3 sets a screen the screener action for Player 4 to cut ball side corner
- Player 1 then sets a back screen for Player 2 then clears.
This set can be an effective high-low action provided you have the correct personnel.
